Gelato has built the world's largest and most global network for on-demand production of customized items e.g. t-shirts, wall art, mugs, books, hoodies, and cards. We support a new wave of e-commerce entrepreneurs and the global shift towards local and more sustainable production.

What will you be doing
Gelato does not own assets, we manage a network of partnerships, with more than 100 production partners in 34 countries. You will have a chance to take on a lead role in building and shaping our elite partner network, designed to stretch your leadership and analytical capabilities.

Partner Expansion managers are responsible for Establishing Partnerships and growing capability at existing partners to increase capacity in Gelato’s production network. They also support the network’s operational performance during the busy peak months.

In this role, you will report to the VP Partner Expansion, and work alongside a team of Expansion Managers that focus on how we can grow our partner portfolio, and build sustainable routes from partners to customer, and thereby achieve our sustainability goal of 98% local production.

You will own expansion in a specific geography, working cross functionally to identify opportunities for growth. You will then create a plan and execute it, managing a pipeline of potential partners whilst also growing the existing set of products with existing partners.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Own the expansion of production partners in region to enable our regional product strategy, through product portfolio and capacity growth.

• Create an expansion plan and execute, managing a pipeline of potential new partners whilst also managing the production portfolio with existing partners.

• Focus on expansion in Japan and potentially the surrounding regions, working cross-functionally to identify opportunities for growth. 

• Be the face of Gelato and own the senior-level relationships with partners. Work closely with partners and spend time with them to help grow their business with Gelato, and help them to deliver best-in-class products for Gelato’s customers.

To be successful in this role, you will also need to have a start-up mentality. You are self-motivated, intellectually curious with a growth mindset. You are confident in your abilities and experience, yet humble and curious in your execution. You have incredible stamina, resilience, and grit. You feel comfortable getting your hands dirty while never losing sight of the long-term strategies and ambition.

You may be a good fit if you have:

• 5+ years of business development or operations work in a high growth market place or network company.

• Top-notch communication skills

• Problem solver attitude

• Ability and eagerness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

• Experience in tech, retail, supply chain, logistics, or eCommerce; with a strong and demonstrable interest in managing operations

• Strong analytical experience, and comfortable operating with large data sets and business intelligence tools to generate insight and actionable conclusions

• Proven track record of managing and delivering complex projects

• Thrives in a high growth, entrepreneurial, and ambiguous environment

• MBA, Masters Degree, or equivalent experience in the applicable field is preferred

• All candidates should be business-fluent in Japanese and English
